We are looking for…

Scenic Artist

DEPARTMENT: Creative/Production

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: Creative Director


RESPONSIBLE FOR: Assisting the Production team with the design, creation, development and maintenance of all Scenic Artwork, props and sets

AIM OF POST: To assist the Creative Team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality scenic work delivered on time and within budget

To develop and maintain a high standard of product




To assist in the design, provision and maintenance of all scenic effects and painting for all productions produced by M&M Theatrical Productions

To assist and work closely with the Production and Creative team, interpreting their requirements to realisation

To attend all production meetings where necessary

Comply with HSE standards and insurance regulations, ensuring that the workshop areas are left clean and tidy after work. Responsible for the Health and Safety of other members of the team within the workshop area


To assist in the maintenance and safe use of paint shop equipment (Paint Frame, Spray Gun, Airless Sprayer, Compressor, etc.)

To undertake any other duties which are consistent with the job




Appreciation and understanding of a wide variety of paint shop disciplines including drawing, painting and texturing

Very strong artistic and painting skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the understanding of the importance of working as part of a team

Ability to use relevant tools and machinery

Ability to offer creative solutions to realise a design within available resources

Smart and efficient working, self-motivation and flexibility in an organisation constantly striving to develop its theatrical values

Ability to work with a wide range of individuals

Numerate and literate


Full Clean Driving License

A basic disclosure

Computer literate and proficient in the use of MS Word, Outlook and Excel

Experience within the theatre industry

Training within an art discipline


SALARY/RATE: Starting from £17,500 pro rata (dependent on experience)



With an immediate start, this role would be on a full-time basis and will include weekends and bank holidays as required. Specifics to be discussed at interview.

Main place of work is Production House, Ayr. Off-site visits to our touring teams may be required.
